Warwickshire County in England has published a strategy for reducing suicide deaths by 2020. Developed by the county council, the strategy includes suicide prevention training for primary care physicians, targeted prevention approaches, support for suicide attempt and loss survivors, and collaboration with the media to produce sensitive reporting on suicide. “Every death by suicide is a tragedy and impacts families, friends and the wider community, and this is part of the council’s ongoing commitment to working with our partners to reducing the rates and providing better support for those bereaved by suicide,” said Les Caborn, council portfolio holder for adult social care and health.
