Making Health Care Better Series on Suicide Prevention

On September 29, the White House held the “Making Health Care Better Series on Suicide Prevention,” which convened leaders in the field of suicide prevention, including representatives from SPRC, the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention, and Zero Suicide. SPRC Director Jerry Reed moderated a panel on implementing the 2012 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Project Director John Draper moderated a second panel on incorporating the voices of lived experience in national prevention efforts. Coinciding with the event, the White House Domestic Policy Council published a suicide-specific addendum to its Making Health Care Better progress report on addressing mental health in research, prevention, coverage, recovery, and quality. The report discusses the work of SPRC, the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention, and the Zero Suicide initiative, among other key contributors to the field.
