Women

Women are more likely than men to attempt suicide (see Scope of the Problem section). But they are less likely than men to die by suicide in large part because they are less likely to use firearms in their suicide attempts. Since women tend to use health care services more often than men do, programs based in health care settings, such as the approaches described in the Zero Suicide model, can be important.
