SPRC’s SPARK Talks are Short, Provocative, Action-oriented, Realistic, and Knowledgeable videos of leaders in the suicide prevention movement. Each of these innovators describes a new development or direction in the field that can have an impact on suicide, and each one issues a call to action. In our newest series:
- Alex Crosby, a medical epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, explains why data is critical to suicide prevention and where to find the data you need.
- Doreen Bird, a program specialist at the University of New Mexico, frames a paradigm for working with Native populations to prevent suicide.
- Ashby Dodge, clinical director at the Trevor Project, urges us to actively listen to people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning so we can provide culturally competent care.
- Barb Gay, a member of the Suicide Attempt Survivor Task Force of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention, shares how survivors of suicide attempts can help us improve prevention, transform care, and save lives.
