NEW YORK: New York Launches Suicide Prevention Task Force
February 02, 2018
New York State has established a task force to evaluate and improve its suicide prevention efforts. Task force members include representatives from state and local governments, leaders of non-profit organizations, and experts in suicide prevention. Members will evaluate current suicide prevention programs, services, and policies and recommend strategies for increasing access to support for those in need. Task force efforts will target at-risk groups, including adolescents, veterans, and the lesbian, gay bisexual, and transgender community. State Department of Health Commissioner Howard Zucker said, “The Department of Health is committed to working with the task force on devising prevention strategies, increasing access to behavioral health services, and improving quality of life for all New Yorkers.”
