Sally Spencer-Thomas, chief executive officer and cofounder of the Carson J. Spencer Foundation, and Cal Beyer, director of risk management at Lakeside Industries, have published an article on suicide prevention in the construction industry. In it, they provide an explanation for the elevated suicide rates among the construction workforce and propose opportunities for mental health promotion and suicide prevention in the industry. The authors also include a list of related resources, including the Construction Industry Blueprint for Suicide Prevention, which was developed by the Carson J. Spencer Foundation and the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention in 2015.
